Intake and exhaust
A healthy attic pulls fresh air in low (soffit vents) and lets warm, moist air out high (ridge or roof vents). Both halves need to work together.
Why it matters
Poor ventilation traps heat in summer, which can bake shingles, and traps moisture in winter, which leads to frost, mold and ice dams.
Quick checks
Look for blocked soffits, frost on roof nails in winter, or an attic that feels like an oven in summer. We check ventilation on every inspection.
