Start with what won't change
Your brick, stone and trim are the fixed pieces. Pick a shingle color that works with them first, then think about siding, which is easier to change later.
See it in daylight
Colors look different on a small sample indoors. Hold samples against your house outside, in the morning and afternoon. Better yet, drive past homes in your area that already have the color.
Think about heat and snow
Darker roofs absorb more heat and can help snow slide off sooner, while lighter roofs stay a bit cooler in summer. In practice, good ventilation and insulation matter more than color, so choose what you love looking at.
